Resources
- Growing into Christ: A very beginning link for stepping into Christian faith:
- Got Questions.org: Okay this link goes directly to the to 20 most often asked Bible questions. It is not the home page for the site. But wow did I spend hours clicking and learning and thinking at this site.
- What Christians Want to Know: a website designed to be a trusted source on highly searched for Christian topics and questions.
- Our Daily Bread: A devotional site with short stories of inspiration and salvation. It is available in many flavors, email, text, tweets etc. it also is a good place to connect to Bible in a Year. If you do not have a place to guide you in daily scripture reading, you can start here.
- I Am Second: a Christian multimedia movement designed to inspire people to live for Jesus Christ and others. The website attempts to capture its visitors by allowing them to view video-testimonies from a large group of individuals who claim to have been transformed by the power of Jesus Christ and have found the power to overcome various struggles through putting Jesus Christ first. Struggles include: abuse, abortion, affluence, anger, cancer, child abuse, death, disabilities, divorce, fatherlessness, forgiveness, grief, marriage, meaning, molestation, pride, prison, prostitution, purpose in life, racism, relationships, satisfaction, self-esteem, selfishness, sex addiction, substance abuse, success, trauma, war and work.
Books
- Not A Fan: this is an easy read but a tough look at the difference between being a “fan” of Jesus, and full-fledged no holds barred following. It will have you consider your commitment no matter where you are on the path.
- The 5 Love Languages: A great read for restoring or enhancing relationships. I read this when I was alone after a 19 year marriage and still learned much I never realized about being a better partner, listening and communicating in ways a partner might best appreciate. If you are in a relationship get two copies and read it together. The author has developed many versions ( kinda like Chicken Soup series has developed) But there is a neat quiz page Profiles you can take online.
- Sex God: Exploring the Endless Connections between Sexuality and Spirituality God and sex go together. You can’t separate the two, says Rob Bell, because this physical world is intimately linked to deeper spiritual realities. And so, in order to make sense of sexuality, at some point you have to talk about God. With beauty and unusual insight, Sex God explores this connection.
